Here I have decided to share this with you all, I have been 2 years in the making of this Calico & Lace Quilt, I am still a little way, through getting this quilt finished. So I will put up a few photos of the blocks I have made so far, just to give you an idea on what you can do to put a Heirloom quilt together.
In this quilt I have used several items from wedding dresses, from the family. Also ribbons, beads, very old laces, embroidered laces made by our Embroidery Machine. Pearl beads. As well as several Design ideas, on designing a quilt like this to remembered for a lot of years ahead.

This is as far as I have got with the design of these blocks. I am still trying to work out whether i should make a centre medallion to complete this heirloom quilt.
I have put pieces from wedding dresses from 3 generations in these blocks, as well as doileys that have been made by my great great great grandmother, right down to one i have made myself,.
So there is 6 generations of doileys I have to incorporate into this quilt.
Plus 3 generations of wedding dresses. to cut pieces from and add to this quilt.
So I am at a stand still with this design, not knowing where to go from here.
So maybe a bit more thought might help.
